The Orange Prize Project

Thanks to Wendy at Caribousmom for coming up with another award-based, perpetual challenge - this one in honor of Orange Prize winners and shortlisters called The Orange Prize Project. I was intrigued to learn more about these authors, and after perusing the list, I discovered that I already had read two shortlisters with five more Orange books on my shelf - just waiting to be read.

Shortlisters Already Read

1) The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood (2001) - my review
2) Ladder of Years by Anne Tyler (1996) - my review

My 2008 Orange Books

1) Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (2007 winner) (review)
2) The Inheritance of Loss by Kiran Desai (2007 short list) (review)
3) Digging to America by Anne Tyler (2007 short list) (review)
4) Property by Valerie Martin (2003 winner) (review)
5) Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood (1997 short list) (review)
6) The Blood of Flowers by Anita Amirrezvani (review)
7) Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood (review)
8) The Keep by Jennifer Egan (review)
9) The Amateur Marriage by Anne Tyler (review)
10) The Colour by Rose Tremain (review)
11) The Road Home by Rose Tremain (review)
12) The Night Watch by Sarah Waters (review)

I am excited to have an "excuse" to read Adichie and more Atwood! The Orange Prize Project is an easy and fun challenge - won't you join us?

Nice new design! I'm going to join this project, too. I've read a lot of the winners & shortlisters already, but there are many other titles I've heard about and would like to read. Just a matter of finding the time!

Jill - your seasonal reflections are such fun and always bring a smile to my face - thank you! Now to business. I am signed up to the Orange Prize Winners as well. Half of A Yellow Sun was one of my 07 favourites - challenging yet so illuminating.

The new look is "love"ly! =D

And how thrilled am I to see an Orange Prize project? I've been able to convince myself out of joining any of these big bloggy reading projects for a while now, but I might well have to get on board with this one as its something I've considered doing on my own steam. I'm off to make some lists and contemplate. ;-)

This sounds good, esp. with all of the Atwood on the list:)! Blogger ate my blog, so I made a new one catswhoknit.wordpress.com There's not much on it (one entry to be precise, but that'll change soon). Hope you're well!
